When I was growing up, the corn was supposed to be "knee high by the 4th of July". And darned if it wasn't so. I remember as a boy getting Dad to stop the car by corn fields, and hopping out of the car to go check. :) It was fun, knowing that a truism was actually - true.
I didn't realize at the time that this was only true if you lived on the 45th parallel, like I did.
Living only 3 or 4 degrees closer to the equator makes a huge difference.... it was knee high this year a lot closer to the 4th of June, not of July. And today, it's up to my chest in my community garden plot. Jeepers, things grow here. Must be that magnifying glass God uses on us. (see prior post)
